How to Have a Relaxing Spa Night at Home
There’s something so relaxing about going to the spa - you can leave all your worries at the door and have someone else pamper you for a few hours. Unfortunately, going to the spa may not be the most budget-friendly self-care option out there - once you add in a few fancy treatments, massages and other add-ons the bill quickly adds up.
The good thing is - you don’t need to go to the spa to have a spa-like experience, especially with so many amazing products and treatments available to do at home. Now that the fall season is upon us, having a cozy spa night in the comfort of your own home sounds like the perfect way to end a stressful day.
So if you can’t make it to the spa, there’s still plenty of ways to create a relaxing experience in your own home to have your own spa night. Keep reading to see how we would plan the perfect spa night!
Setting the Mood for a Spa Night At Home
First things first, you have to get in the right mindset to instantly transport you to your own personal spa. Start by doing a simple meditation for a few minutes to clear your mind. Take a few deep breaths, and let all of your stressful thoughts and worries stay behind.
Next, you have to have the right playlist. Whether you choose to go with classical music or something more tranquil, try to pick music that doesn’t have any lyrics so you can let your mind stay in the moment - your spa moment. You can even use a sound machine to play calming sounds like birds chirping, waves crashing, or gentle rain.
You know how spas always smell absolutely incredible? Well, you can recreate that at home with an aromatherapy diffuser and some candles. Opt in for scents that are calming, like lavender or a blend of light scents like ylang-ylang or jasmine to help soothe any anxiety or stress you might be experiencing.
Finally, dim the lights to their lowest setting, if possible, and let yourself drift into relaxation mode. Keep reading for ideas for what to do during your spa night depending on your needs.
What Activities To Do During An At-Home Spa Night - Body
Depending on what you need, there are a few different options for what you can do during your spa night. But we suggest starting with a bath so you can really relax. Did you know that baths help relieve muscle tension and pain, improve your heart health, and help you sleep better?
Begin by running a bath at a temperature you can handle. As the water is running and the tub begins to fill up, pour in a generous handful of bath salts (we like these because they also help moisturize the skin) and gently stir into the water using your hand. If you’d like, you can also drop in a scented bath bomb to add an aroma therapeutic element to your bath. Plus, bath bombs are just so fun to use!
Once your bathtub is full and the water is at a good temperature, you can get in. Make sure you soak for a decent amount of time. You can use this time to relax, meditate, or even sleep using a bath pillow for added comfort. Let your mind wander and enjoy it - it’s your me-time!
When you’re ready to get out of the tub, make sure you give your skin a good scrub (we love our coffee scrub for this) as it buffs away dead skin cells and makes your skin feel soft and smooth to the touch. Next, you can follow up with a rich and luxurious body butter to seal in moisture.
What Activities To Do During An At-Home Spa Night - Face
Now that you’ve pampered the skin on your body, you have to take care of the skin on your face, too!
We suggest doing a face mask or two during a spa night to target your skin concerns and leave you looking refreshed and glowing.
Always start off with a clean face. Use a gentle cleanser such as a milky cleanser or foaming cleanser to remove any traces of makeup, grime or SPF.
Next, soothe the skin with a gentle toner to remove anything leftover residue and prep your skin for a face mask or treatment. Before we get to the next step, now’s a perfect time to use a facial steamer if you have one. This will help open up the pores and help your skincare products penetrate deeper into the skin so it can work more effectively.
Now comes the fun part - face masks! We have lots of face masks to choose from, but you can’t go wrong with a sheet mask or oxygen mask to make your skin look incredible. After you’re done, make sure to follow up with your favorite moisturizer or facial oil to lock in moisture and keep the skin hydrated and soft. Feel free to spend a longer amount of time massaging the product into your skin using a gua sha or facial roller.
After all your skincare is set, you can finish off your spa night by either reading a book, meditating or just going straight to bed. We suggest using a lavender scented pillow spray to help you sleep, and a sleeping mask to block out any light so that you’ll get enough beauty sleep.
Now you know how to have a relaxing spa night at home - minus the expensive spa costs. Plus, the best part of having a spa night at home is you can plan it out exactly as you want it to be.
