At Callyssee, we want to be more than a skincare brand, we want to be a source of motivation and inspiration to those who seek it. Inspiration and motivation can be found everywhere we look, even if we're not looking!

Our line of caffeinated skincare products was developed following a talented group of people’s inspiration and motivation. Our team wanted to introduce to the market a cruelty-free skincare product using organic Caffea Arabica as the main ingredient.

Needless to say, these visionaries' inspiration and motivation have paid off -- and now we want to help inspire you to achieve your goals! We've got some killer reads to help get you there.

As part of our new series of inspiration and motivation, we've got a list of our 5 favorite books that'll change your life forever. (Don't got time to sit down with a book? Get the audio version and listen while you walk your dog or drive to work!)

#1 Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert

This book is a creative living bible. In it, the author gives us some very important lessons on how to overcome our fears and start being successfully creative.

These three lessons are my favorite from the book:

    • Let your fears coexist with your passions, and create anyway
    • Give yourself permission to create, even if you start at zero (and don't we all start at zero?)
    • Keep your day job while you create your awesome thing (think Einstein) in order to fuel your love affair with creativity

Big Magic is the perfect read for those who fear to be creative in a world that could use more creativity!

#2 Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead by Brené Brown

Daring Greatly focuses on vulnerability. Specifically, how being vulnerable is a great tool that when used correctly, can help us overcome our deepest fears.

In this book, Brown gives us some great lessons on how to use our vulnerability to our advantage. Some of the lessons include:

      • If you can be vulnerable, it means you’re strong -- embrace this!
      • Build resilience to shame by understanding it and saying it out loud. Putting words to your shame helps take shame's power away.
      • Be a role model for your (future) kids, it’s the only way they learn

The big take-way from this book is that being vulnerable isn't a weakness, in fact it represents strength -- and it's necessary for connection with other human beings. More authentic vulnerability, we say!

#3 The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom by Don Miguel Ruiz

This is a great book all about breaking the rules, and breaking them in a way that will be beneficial to us all.

Don Miguel Ruiz wrote this book after a near-fatal car accident in 1997. In it, he takes some lessons from the ancient Toltec civilization and brings them to life in his writings.

The Four Agreements can be summarized in the following points:

        • Be impeccable with your word
        • Don’t take anything personally: what people do and say is because of their own baggage and has essentially nothing to do with you
        • Don’t make assumptions
        • Always do your best

It's a short, enriching read. Making these new agreements with ourselves can be one of the most important steps we take towards self-appreciation and love, so we can be happier and feel more fulfilled no matter what our lives look like now.

#4 You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero

You Are A Badass (I love that title) is a book we all need to read to become more self-aware and figure out what we want to do in life. The book tells us to kick other people's opinions out of our lives and focus on what makes us happy.

I love the lessons in this book and these are three of my favorites:

          • Draw a line in the sand. Now.
          • Know what you want, but be flexible about the how (focus on your goal, not on how you'll get there -- law of attraction, anyone?).
          • When your environment doesn’t support you, change your environment!

Reading this book will definitely get you started on your way to being a “Badass.” One important thing to understand is that you are in control and that you have the keys to your future, success, happiness, and everything in between.

This book will help you internalize it so you can believe it and embody it!

#5 The Secret by Rhonda Byrne

The Secret is yet another fantastic self-help book that concentrates on positive thinking. It is based on the Law of Attraction, meaning that “the like, will attract the like.”

A classic in the law of attraction, the main idea of this book is that dreams do come true and that we have the power to manifest our thoughts into reality.

This book gives us the secret to success through the following steps:

            • Ask
            • Believe
            • Receive

The law of attraction asks that you believe before you receive. Believe you will feel X, achieve X, get X before you actually feel, achieve, or get whatever X is.

This book is a great read because people who have actually followed these steps have found the success they crave in life. Powerful stuff!

We hope this list can be of inspiration and motivation to you. Read one, or two, or the whole list of books here and you'll find yourself feeling more inspired and ready to grab life by the balls!

The important thing is that you start somewhere -- what matter is taking the first step, regardless of how small or big it is -- so you can believe in yourself more and more until you're achieving your goals nonstop, whatever they are!

Now it's your turn to share with us: What are your favorite self-improvement reads?
