If you experience acne-prone skin, you’re not alone. Did you know an estimated 60 million Americans struggle with acne? So the next time you have a breakout, there’s no need to stress - everyone gets pimples! We’ve rounded up five of our favorite acne-fighting products for clear skin that are made with proven ingredients.
1. Make Sure You Deep Clean
If you wear SPF or makeup daily, you need to make sure you’re cleansing your skin well enough to get everything off your face. If not, you risk leaving dirt, grime or pollution on your face overnight and that can cause clogged pores. Skincare products work better on cleansed skin, too!
We love our Macchiato Foaming Cleansing Scrubber because it gives your skin a deep clean without feeling stripped or dry. It’s great at removing SPF and makeup, even the most stubborn of mascara. The included scrubber gets deep into the pores to reveal soft and clean skin, while also gently exfoliating.
2. Switch it Up with A Cleansing Scrub
If you’re not a huge fan of foaming cleansers, don’t worry! You can still get that deep clean feeling with one of our other favorite cleansers, the Better Bean Clean Face Coffee Cleanser.
Featuring our star ingredient Coffea Arabica extract, this gentle yet effective scrub buffs away dull skin to reveal a bright, glowing complexion, is safe for even the most sensitive of skin, and gentle enough to use twice daily.
3. Exfoliate Regularly
Did you know that regular exfoliation helps buff away dead skin cells and reveal smoother, glowing skin? If you have acne-prone skin, you should try an exfoliate at least twice a week to get rid of dead skin cells so they don’t clog your pores and cause breakouts.
Our Coffee Crush Exfoliating Peeling Gel works as a physical and chemical exfoliant as well as a treatment to help skin appear firmer and brighter for a healthy-looking complexion. We recommend using at least once a week for best results!
4. Try Salicylic Acid
One of the tried and true ingredients of many acne-fighting products is salicylic acid. It’s proven to help clear acne blemishes, blackheads and whiteheads while also preventing new ones from forming.
These Thayer’s Blemish Clearing Pads are super easy to use and are also made with soothing aloe vera and witch hazel.
5. Start Using a Retinol, ASAP
If you have acne-prone skin, retinol and retinoids are a must-have. A derivative of vitamin A, this powerful ingredient can help with acne, dull skin, wrinkles, fine lines and fight the signs of aging. It’s a powerhouse against many common skin concerns - and it’s never too early to start incorporating into your skincare routine!
Check in with your dermatologist to find prescription retinol that will be at a safe percentage and effective for your skin type. You should try to stay out of the sun when using a retinoid because it makes your skin more sensitive to the sun - so always make sure you use an SPF of at least SPF 20 every single day if you’re using retinol to protect your skin!
